The lamu Archipelago is a small group of Island situated on Kenya´s Northen Coast line, near Somali. It is made up of Lamu, Manda, pate and Kiwayuu islands. Lamu town is the headquarter of Lamu District, one of the six districts of Kenya´s Coast Province, which boarders the Indian Ocean to the east, the Tana River District to the South-West, the Garissa District to the North and the republic of somali to the North-East.
The County has a land surface area of 6,474.7 Km2 that includes the mainland and over 65 Islands that forms the Lamu Archipelago. The total length of the coastline is 130 km while land water mass area stands at 308km DSC_0653 The streets of Lamu are nowhere more than eight feet wide.
The proximity of the high stone walls cools the air and means that the streets are always in shadow. An unforeseen benefit of their narrowness means that there are no motor vehicles in Lamu; all transport is by handcarts and donkeys.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
Be a Kenyan Citizen;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary
Education (KCSE) or its equivalent; relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
Diploma in repair and maintenance or relevant qualification from a recognized vessel institution;
Training of Trainers course from a recognized institution; and
Certificate in applications from a recognized institution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
Train theory and practical lessons for students in the area of specialization;
Prepare and use schemes of work, course outlines, and lesson plans in line with the approved examining body teaching and instructing students and carrying out trainee assessments;
Prepare materials to facilitate creative curriculum in delivering learning and complete demonstrations as outlined in curriculum;
Set assignments regularly and mark them promptly, follow — up with student’s suggestions for further appropriate improvement in learning;
Ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment;
Conducting co-curricular activities;
Ensure that students understand and follow the college rules and regulations in order to maintain high level of discipline; and
Provide guidance and counseling to students to nurture development including spiritual care and make referrals where considered necessary
