1. Research the company and the position.
The first thing to do when preparing for a job interview is to research about the company itself. This can be online through the internet, reading about in books and magazines, or even asking friends if they happen to know anything about the company.
The more you know about the company and the position you are interviewing for, the more confident you will be in your interview. Take some time to research the company’s website, social media pages, and recent news articles. Read the job description carefully and make a list of your skills and experience that are relevant to the position.
2. Practice answering common interview questions.
There are a number of common interview questions that you can expect to be asked. Practice answering these questions out loud so that you can deliver your answers confidently and concisely. Hey, don’t cram, just understand what the question is about and answer it accordingly.

3. Prepare your own questions.
I know you may be asking why but here is the thing. Asking questions at the end of the interview shows that you are interested in the position and the company. This single trick will tell a lot about your employee that you are the right candidate for the position.
Come up with a few questions that you would like to ask the interviewer about the role, the team, or the company culture. For example, you could ask about the company’s values, its training and development programs, or its opportunities for advancement. Just get creative.
4. Dress professionally.
Oh yes, first impressions matter, so make sure to dress professionally for your interview. This doesn’t mean you have to wear a suit and tie, but you should dress in clean, neat clothes that are appropriate for the workplace. Avoid wearing too much jewelry or makeup, and make sure your hair is styled neatly.
5. Arrive on time.
Punctuality shows that you are respectful of the interviewer’s time and that you are serious about the position. Aim to arrive at the interview at least 15 minutes if not 30 minutes early. This will give you enough time to cool down and feel relaxed before the interview starts.
6. Be yourself.
The interviewer wants to get to know the real you, so don’t try to be someone you’re not. Be genuine and authentic, and let your personality shine through. Remember to maintain a meaningful eye contact during the interview and project your voice, don’t let the interviewer struggle to hear what you are saying.
7. Be positive and enthusiastic.
Show the interviewer that you are excited about the opportunity and that you are confident in your ability to do the job. Smile, make eye contact, and speak clearly and confidently.
8. Be prepared to talk about your skills and experience.
Be specific and give examples of how you have used your skills in the past. For example, if you are interviewing for a sales position, you could talk about a time when you successfully closed a big deal.
9. Be respectful and professional.
Make eye contact, speak clearly, and avoid fidgeting. If you don’t know the answer to a question, it’s okay to say so. Just be honest and let the interviewer know that you will get back to them with an answer.
10. Ask for the next steps.
At the end of the interview, ask the interviewer about the next steps in the process. This shows that you are interested in the position and that you are following up.
