PSC to Recruit 20000 Kenyans for internship Apply
Starting in 2024, the public service will begin hiring at least 20,000 people for internships.
President William Ruto made the announcement on Friday and stated that the interns will be added to the program to help close the skills gap between graduates and employers, increasing their employability.
Ruto was speaking during the launch of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) aimed at providing practical skills to graduates seeking employment.
“Beginning next year, we are going to recruit 20,000 young people to serve in various sectors of our economy,” he said.
The Head of State also urged the private sector to partner with the Government in ensuring that more young people benefitted from the programme as part of efforts to uplift their lives.
The program has helped 3,902 interns this year.
In addition, President Ruto praised the commission for making sure the interns chosen represented Kenya’s diversity.
“It’s impressive that the PSC has distributed the available slots to all the 290 constituencies, ensuring that persons living with disabilities and all genders are adequately represented,” he stated.
During the event, the President also commissioned the 2021/2022 report on the Status of Compliance with the Values and Principles in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution, acknowledging the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship Programme (PSELFP).
