Dental Assistant

Job Objective/Purpose
Assist the Dental Surgeon in the provision of comprehensive dental services within the Avenue group in line with the company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, instruments, and materials by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, review the health form and draping patient.
- Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area, positioning instruments for dentists’ access, suctioning, and passing instruments.
- Apply the four-handed/ Four-eyes dentistry concept.
- Assist the dentist by mixing materials.
- Â Provide diagnostic information by capturing intra oral photo studies, pulp vitality testing and pouring, trimming and polishing study casts.
- Assist with specialty procedures which include periodontal therapy, endodontic, prosthodontics, oral surgery and implant placement as well as restoration.
- Fabricating temporary restoration, shade selection and cleaning and polishing removable appliances.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control and postoperative instructions including medication prescribed by the dentist.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records on dental software.
- Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by your immediate supervisor in line with the job description.
Personal Specifications
- Diploma in Community Oral Health or equivalent
- 2 years post internship experience
- Up to date BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Unit Manager – Oncology

Job Objective/Purpose
To ensure that Avenue Healthcare’s defined policies, protocols, procedures and standards are adhered to by all medical staff in AHC facilities
Key Responsibilities
The Nurse in charge will perform the following people management duties as guided by Avenue HR policies and in coordination with the HR Department;
- Efficient staffing – Liaise with the Nursing Services Manager/HR to ensure optimal staff levels including reallocation of staff depending on staffing needs, as well as efficient use of overtimes and locums.
- Identify training gaps and liaise with the Nursing Services Manager/HR to facilitate training.
- Regular staff engagement and monthly staff meetings with documented evidence of attendance eg. minutes
- Reward, recognition and discipline – Ensure that deserving staff are recognized/rewarded and disciplinary action (with proper cause) is undertaken without undue delay and per defined policies
- Ensure staff are well groomed; have their respective uniform, name tags etc
Ensure that the unit has the following required resources;
- Collaborate with the NSM/HR to ensure that there is an updated locum pool
- Ensure proper inventory of the available equipment on a daily basis and ensure that they are in good working condition. Report any malfunction to Bio Medical Technician/NSM.
Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrate growth through;
- Offering quality care to patients and ensuring good relationship with stakeholders
- Ensure financial objectives are met by managing costs within budget, timely and accurate billing of drugs and services. Ensure an invoice rejection rate of < 3% by ensuring that proper pre-authorisations and documentation has been done

Personal Specifications
- A BsN in nursing and administrative training
- Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing
- A valid nursing council of Kenya license
- 2 years experience in a related position
- COHSASA or other Accreditation experience
- Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Should be ethical
