Duties/Responsibilities
The M&E Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that data collected is accurate, complete and timely, and that it is used to inform programmatic decisions and improve performance:
- Assisting in the development of project M&E plans, including identifying project indicators, setting targets, and establishing data collection and analysis methods;
- Leading design of data collection tools and collecting data from various sources, including project staff, partners and beneficiaries, to track the progress of the project;
- Entering data into databases and maintaining the accuracy and completeness of project data;
- Assist in analyzing project data to identify trends, patterns and insights, and presenting findings to the M&E team and project stakeholders;
- Assist in preparing and submitting reports on project progress, impact and outcomes, and sharing these reports with project stakeholders;
- Assist in drafting indicator definitions to ensure that project M&E activities are conducted in accordance with established standards and procedures;

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning and Communication Specialist
APHRC seeks to recruit a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning and Communication Specialist to join the Measurement Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The MEL and Communications Officer will lead communication on MEL in collaboration with Policy Engagement and Communication (PEC) Division at the Center to synthesize, analyze and utilize the MEL quantitative and qualitative data obtained with the goal of developing impact stories and case studies. S/he will also support the Center’s MEL agenda as well as knowledge translation, and facilitate the sharing of best practices -by providing mechanisms for continuous improvement of the MEL implementation processes towards set targets, and achievement of impact as envisioned by the Center’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Evidence Uptake
- Provide monitoring, evaluation and learning technical support to divisions, themes and sub-themes during proposal writing, implementation and program review;
- Provide technical support in the preparation of evaluation findings, reports and articles for appropriate audiences/stakeholders;
- Lead the production of any MEL documents that will be used for publicity, visibility and advocacy;
- Regularly pitch impact and success story ideas, and flag opportunities to share new or emerging data on social media;
- Design and develop M&E tools, result frameworks, logic models, and theory of change upon request;

Advocacy and Knowledge Management Specialist

- A qualification in an aspect of nutrition will be an added advantage.
- At least eight years’ post-qualification experience in nutrition advocacy and knowledge management, working in relevant areas within the international development sector at a senior level in nutrition.
- Proven ability to provide leadership in managing and promoting research outputs for use in advocacy.
- Experience and a large network in nutrition advocacy work with different stakeholders to inform and influence policy development.

Cloud Engineer
Duties/Responsibilities
The Data Science team is developing the DASSA (Data Science Architecture and Sharing Center in Africa) data platform to host data from multidisciplinary sources including in-house research studies stored at the APHRC microdata portal, data from several African Health and Demographic Health Surveys and open-source datasets. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining cloud-technology-based infrastructure that supports our organization’s technology goals. S/he will also ensure the security, reliability and scalability of the DASSA platform:
- Design, implement, and maintain private/public/hybrid cloud infrastructure using best practices and in accordance with our organization’s technology goals and objectives;
- Collaborate with cross-unit teams such as the health and well-being, population dynamics and urbanization, and human development. Data from units will be harmonized and made accessible through the federated platform;
- Work with full-stack developers, network engineers and IT security engineers to ensure that the DASSA platform is secure, reliable and scalable;
- Develop and implement processes and procedures for cloud-technology-based systems that ensure efficiency, stability and security;
- Automate infrastructure, data management and application deployments;
