HSSE Manager – Warehousing
In order to provide our customers with a truly integrated offering, our L&S portfolio has expanded into Warehousing. The company has a vacancy in the role of HSSE Manager, Warehousing. The role of this individual will be to support in the development and implementation of company HSSE standards in Warehouse design and operation. It supports the execution of warehouse / facility-based HSE, Security and Quality activities, and will provide this support across the East Africa Area. Will execute the WND Operations & Business Plan as it applies to EAA operations. Will ensure operational excellence follow strictly with HSSE requirement in EAA operations. Will support process development initiatives in safety requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide HSSE support to execute the WND Operations & Business Plan
- Support site HSSE managers and Warehouse managers on development and implementation of HSSE policies, standards and procedures for Warehouse design and operation.
- Drive the implementation and maintenance of an integrated Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
- Develop and implement appropriate strategies to address HSSE risks within the warehouse facility and their potential impact.
- Develop and implement appropriate strategies for Decarbonization, to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2040.
- Implement the company requirements for Dangerous Goods handling and storage, including the development of SOPs.
- Maintain a good understanding of local / international chemical regulations in warehousing and transportation, including keeping track of changes.
- Coordinate and provide appropriate training for staff and contractors working in the warehouse facilities.
- Put in place a program for equipment inspection, to ensure all equipment is safe and fit for use.
- Compile and manage annual HSSE action plans per facility through the companies reporting tool.
- Conduct audits, review audit findings, and manage compliance with action items.
- Ensure that all incident investigations are handled effectively and in accordance with the Maersk global HSSE standards, and investigation reports are completed in a timely manner, to include corrective and preventative actions for the root causes.
- Drive and ensure alignment in respect of all statutory obligations and compliance with local legislation and APMM global HSSE standards and best practice in international logistics, supply chain, trucking, and warehousing
- Ensure robust emergency response plans are in place for each facility
- Implement mechanisms for management of Contractors on site, including requirements to ensure that contractor’s health and safety policies, procedures and systems are in place and are in accordance with Maersk standards prior to access to Facilities.
- Contribute to the organizational safety culture through training, increased awareness, risk assessments, and behavior-based safety programs.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent qualifications
- 5+ years working experience in HSSE positions, with experience in Warehousing
- NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma. Registration as an Occupational Safety and Health Advisor (DOSHS) will be an added advantage.
- Preference for a candidate with demonstrated experience in logistics and warehouse operations
- Good knowledge of warehousing operations
- Flexibility and willingness to travel across East Africa.
- Experience in set up of a new facility/ warehouse, or contract logistics project implementation experience
- Experience in implementation and maintenance of ISO Management systems for Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety. Knowledge of global environmental standards.
- Good understanding of risk management principles and application of barriers and critical controls
- Good organization and planning skills
Control Tower Analyst
The Control Tower Analyst is responsible to drive agility respond to exceptions, proactively monitor cold chain integrity during the container journey and help drive efficiencies through better planning on the LT journey as well as follow up while unit is on water.
Key Responsibilities:
- RCM real time temperature tracking for all inland cargo moves including Temperature recording at different milestone; stuffing point, journey midpoint and arrival at depot/port
- Ensure reefer shipments documentation and operational tasks in GCSS/RKEM are timely closed to enable a seamless delivery. Look out for missing shipping instructions, missing VGM, RKEM/GCSS discrepancies etc.
- Monitor the shipments across the shipment journey to ensure no shut outs/Rollings/short shipments.
- Exception Management and Corrective actions during cargo inland move include-Genset and equipment functioning tracking for on/off and failure and corrective actions also temperature/atmosphere of the reefer shipments. Flagging with RCM team those with very high/low values from set point
- Ensure transit time compliance and include journey plan management and truck rerouting to ensure shipment delivery on time avoiding shut outs/Rollings/short shipments
- Coordination and compliance of movement /transition of trucks from Alpha depot to port after genset unplugging
- Coordinate and action solutions for exceptions during arming and release of units from customer packhouse for onward delivery.
- Monitor and follow up on non-compliant or missing communication events relating to inland moves
- Proactively monitoring temperature/atmosphere of the reefer shipments. Flag with RCM team those with very high/low values from set point
- Data analytics-Report/updates, updated weekly reports and distribute to all CX stakeholders
- Ensure product delivery for CCL shipments is updated in GCSS to avoid revenue leakage
- Corrective actions, and escalations for all the inland moves. Working closely with all stakeholders to provide the best supply chain solution, actively supporting the agreed savings targets for the business unit

- Cost compliance include Genset allocation between Maersk owned and 3rd party to optimize Maersk genset utilization, and monitoring fuel usage during inland moves
