Financial Inclusion Expert Team Leader
General Responsibilities
- Governance: Works with the EIDD in order to fulfill the organization mission.
- Responsible for leading Lean team of Financial Inclusion Experts in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the organization.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the EIDD and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the team to function properly and to enable the EIDD to make informed decisions.
- Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the Team.
- Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support financial inclusion’s Team Strategic mission.
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of financial inclusion team, to include submission to the EIDD a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the team.
- Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the unit in a positive financial position.
- FI Team Mission and Strategy: Works with EIDD to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
- Responsible for implementation of financial Inclusion activities for IFDC field programs
- Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that FI team can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
- Responsible for the enhancement of FI team image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
- FI Team Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the team are appropriate.
- Assists the EIDD in the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
- Responsible effective administration of Financial Inclusion operations.
- Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into for Financial Inclusion activities and on behalf of the organization.
Actual Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the EIDD, the FI Expert team leader is expected to.
- Seek involvement in policy decisions, and fundraising and increase the overall visibility of the organization.
- Supervise, and collaborate with organization staff.
- Lead the strategic planning and implementation of FI activities.
- Oversee the planning and operation of the FI team’s annual budget.
- Serve as FI team’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public.
- Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance IFDC’s FI team Mission.
- Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues.
- Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
- Convene and chair FI expert team meetings.
- Provide thought leadership of the FI Team and review the FI functions aligned to the financial sector dynamics.
- Review contracts for services for their submission to the EIDD approval.
- Other duties as assigned by the EIDD.
Required Skills
Required Experience
- A bachelor’s degree is a prerequisite and a higher degree in business or a closely related field is an asset.
- Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
- 15 years or more years with 10 years in a senior post for profit (in Agri-finance) or/and 5 years of non-profit management experience.
- Experience and skill in working with senior executive directors.
- High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, division heads, volunteers, and donors.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with teams of FI subject matter experts.
- A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
- Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers.
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking ability.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
Head of Investments Analysis & Risk Management
General Responsibilities
- Governance: Works with the FI Expert Team (ET) Leader in order to fulfill the organization mission.
- Responsible for leading Lean team of investment readiness analysts and/or Agri-value chain specialists, consultants and/or interns in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the organization.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the internal and external project leads and providing in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the IA & RM unit to function properly and to enable the FI ET leader to make informed decisions.
- Performance and Viability: Perform economic forecast, conduct field programs social economic research, investment research, and investment deal structuring to ensure the health (risk management) of the business deals.
- Responsible for investment analysis, deal structuring and risk management to support IFDC Strategic mission.
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of FI data (for both internal and external clients), to include submission of viable investments readiness clients and accurately reflect the risk inherent in every business dealing (transaction advisory).
- Responsible for resource management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and sustainability of FI ET.
Actual Job Responsibilities
- Deals Execution, and Portfolio Management
- Develops and reviews financial models and conducts financial sensitivity analyses for the Investment proposals.
- Evaluates Investment proposals and Investment risks of the deals; identify, measure, and mitigate the risk of new transactions and make recommendations regarding deal structuring, and pricing.
- Identifies areas of exposure within the institution with regards to ESG and Climate Risk, develop mitigating factors, implementation, and monitoring tools.
- Maintain relations by visiting project/client’s business collecting data and understanding the economies of the business for advisory services.
- Manage knowledge and understanding of the entrepreneurial and impact investing in the agri-business projects and their value chains.
- Preparation and negotiation of legal documentation for the client with the support of the legal department/ contract (lawyers).
- Conducts industry research and associated analysis to inform strategy, portfolio, and new business decisions.
- Supervise and manage investment readiness and value chain/consultants/interns’ team of experts.
- Drafts Investments approval documents and supports the process for transactions with existing project/clients.
- Evaluating the Investment worthiness of potential FI project/customers and ensuring that all pre-disbursement conditions are met specifically Technical Assistant Facilities and/or arranger fees and commissions.
- Provides capacity strengthening (training, coaching, and mentoring) to internal and external clients funding of FI activities to ensure increased revenue and impact from their operations.
- Monitoring of the current portfolio to ensure the book maintains positive revenues.
Required Skills
Required Experience
- Finance & Accounting Professional with an average of 8 years experience in diverse disciplines in Finance including but not limited to financial reporting and analysis, auditing, corporate finance, portfolio management, and derivatives analysis.
- Highly experienced financial analyst and business strategist.
- Transformational leader fuelled by the challenge of delivering high top and bottom-line value.
- Passionate about business planning, implementation, and monitoring while instituting relevant compliance measures & controls.
- Well-versed in the for-profit and nonprofit leading in complex multi-funded programs and projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, and/or a related field, and a master’s degree is desirable.
- 8 years or more years with 5 years in senior audit/credit analysts post for profit (in Agri-finance) and 3 years non-profit management experience.
