Senior Officer – Institutional Clean Energy
Job purpose
The senior officer will be responsible for coordinating all projects and programs falling under climate smart agriculture and water.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create awareness and advice institutions on the available renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water solutions from Equity to the clients.
- Focus on transitioning learning institutions and hospitals into clean energy for cooking and lighting, but also promote other solutions such as water harvesting & storage, solar water heating and waste management
- Be the focal point and the link person between the technology providers, institutions and the bank and working closely with the relevant units with the bank to ensure that the institutions are supported to access loans for conversion
- Coordinate site visits to institutions, participate in pitching of the clean energy solutions.
- Working closely with the Manager and the Pillar Head, maintain excellent relationship with the technology partners and the institutions
- Ensure that the technology partners are consuming bank products such loans, deposits, payments and insurance and always seeking support from the bank to cross sell the bank’s products and services within the partners ecosystems
- Conducting market intelligence on emerging trends institutional clean energy and advice the pillar accordingly on market opportunities
- Provide the link between the Pillar and the commercial engine and coordinate execution of projects through the bank as well as maintain an excellent working relationship between EGF, the Bank and the partners.
- Linking institutional partners to specific departments to facilitate customer satisfaction in service delivery
- Coordinating and carrying out training and capacity building activities internally for staff and externally for partners and customers on institutional clean energy
- Production of monthly progress reports as per the set targets
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
Education
- University degree
- Conducting training in climate finance and environmental resource management or related courses will be an added advantage
Experience
- Experience in energy, banking, education and hospitality sector
- At least two years’ work experience in a reputable related field providing advisory services and/or project management.

Manager- Energy, Environment & Climate Change
Job purpose
The Manager will be responsible for managing the project and programs under the Energy, Environment and Climate Change (EE&CC) pillar as well as a team of senior officers and officer within the pillar.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure smooth running of the EE&CC Pillar
- Lead, guide and motivate EE&CC team in executing the pillar’s mission and objectives in line with Equity’s mission.
- Develop the pillar’s strategies & projections and communicate the same to the team for execution.
- Planning, assigning and supervising pillar projects per sector at the same time design jobs and specify tasks.
- Will be the lead partner relationship manager and will use the opportunity to identify areas Equity can leverage to attain its social, environmental and commercial goals.
- Establishment and maintaining a close working relationship among the pillar team, other departments of EGF and the Bank to ensure smooth running of the EE&CC Pillar Programs.
- Assisting the pillar head in aligning and managing the Pillar’s projects per sector and aligning them to the Bank’s objective of driving business through eco-system banking.
- Working closely the M&E team develop relevant project tracking tools for accurate and timely progress reports
- Coordinating & supporting execution of projects undertaken between EGF, the Bank and energy partners.
- Promoting and cross selling the Banks’ products to energy partners. Support and/ or facilitate market, information/ knowledge and financial linkages and support build-up of business networks for the energy & environment eco-systems.
- Working closely with Pillar partners to specific sectors/individuals to facilitate customer satisfaction in service delivery
- Coordinate and participate in capacity building activities for Equity staff, partners and customers
- Ensure proper continuous documentation and dissemination/ reporting of activities.

Education

- At least four years’ work experience with reputable organization especially in green projects, sustainable finance

Assistant Manager- Energy, Environment & Climate Change
Job purpose
The Assistant Manager will be responsible for coordinating and co-managing all projects that are undertaken under Energy, Environment and Climate Change Pillar.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work closely with the manager to ensure smooth running of the Pillar and all its projects
- Co-planning, assigning and supervising pillar projects per sector and ensuring the projects are executed in a timely manner and within the set resources.
- Own and drive the institutional clean cooking project focusing on learning and health institutions
- Training of branches on clean energy transitions
- Establishment and maintaining a close working relationship among the pillar, other departments of EGF and the Bank to ensure smooth running of the EE & CC Pillar Programs
- Supporting the Pillar’s projects and aligning them to the Bank’s objective of driving business through eco-system banking.
- Supporting daily administrative and management of Pillar projects including assigning and supervising work schedules for the officer and senior officers.
- Requesting data from relevant sources, receiving, analysing, consolidating and maintaining the pillar’s data and reports.
- Promoting/ cross selling the Banks’ products to pillar partners and linking them to specific departments and individuals for seamless customer service.
- Ensuring that planned capacity building activities for staff and customers are effectively carried out.
Working conditions
The position entails coverage of an extensive knowledge in climate related projects and might require more time to be spent in the office providing administrative services.
Reporting Line
The Assistant Manager will report directly to the Associate Director but closely with the Manager. The Asst. Manager will be assigned several senior officers and will support the manager in managing the senior officers, officers, interns and any other personnel reporting to the manager.
Expected outputs
Deliver assigned targets output in terms of expected output – numbers of projects completed, capacity of energy projects undertaken, economic, social and environmental impact and performance of the pillar. Periodic reports (Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly) on program specific activities as detailed out in the Key Performance Indicators KPI’s contract.
Qualifications
