IDAS Africa- Associate Director (FCDO -Business Development EA)

Position Summary

We are currently looking for an Associate Director to support us in business development and delivery for UK Gov: FCDO (donor), British International Investment (DFI), UK Export Finance (guarantees/ECA), cutting across different sectors in Africa.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the successful candidate will lead our UK Government key account across Africa. He/she will combine business development with delivery and management of engagements. This role will involve coordination and oversight of our activities targeting the UK Government (and especially FCDO) key sectors or strategic priorities in Africa. The role will require travel across Africa and occasionally to UK.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Business development – A lead role is business development strategy design and implementation. Generating new business, building and cultivating strong business relationships, and exhibiting technical and operational leadership to deliver quality, client- centric solutions that target the direct UK Government opportunities (especially FCDO).
  • Client/project management – Lead/manage multiple projects or programs through the direction of a team of professionals and with the contribution of cross- divisional specialists. This includes support on negotiations, contractual arrangements and delivery of engagements.
  • Develop a portfolio of projects (cutting across Africa) by building and maintaining strategic relationships with senior stakeholders of the UK Government and its agencies such as the FCDO or Target Governments in Africa.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity and products/services.
  • Risk management – Ensure full compliance with KPMG’s quality, risk and management requirements.
  • Any other tasks that will be assigned to you.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, economics, finance, engineering etc. A post graduate qualification in a relevant field would be essential.
  • At least 15 years’ working experience in the international development sector or working with development finance institutions, preferably in Africa;
  • Proven experience of managing projects and teams in a development or professional services firm;
  • At least 10 years of experience/knowledge working with UK Government agencies such as FCDO (formerly DFID) as a subject matter expert;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate business and deliver work in strategic sectors funded by FCDO or the UK Government;
  • Track record of success in writing proposals and winning engagements;
  • Established relationships and networks with UK Government and other key players in the UK Government such as FCDO.
  • An excellent understanding of the current UK Government development approach/agenda for Africa.
  • Well-developed presentation, proposal and report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.

People & Change – Manager

Position Summary

KPMG People & Change wish to recruit a Manager to analyze clients’ needs, develop strategies, and lead a team to deliver tailored HR solutions, ensuring compliance to KPMG policies and professional Standards.

Key roles and responsibilities

The Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manages engagements or projects to consistently achieve specific revenue and profit objectives and deliver designated engagement deliverables.
  • Maintain a progress tracker of engagement milestones, tasks and deliverables.
  • Plan and manage client engagement risk and project budget.
  • Identify and escalate key client challenges to assess best possible intervention.
  • Provide technical knowledge, direction and training to the engagement team to produce quality deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders/ clients.
  • Contribute to proposal development efforts by driving market initiatives through involvement with relevant markets team.
  • Manage client relationships through cross selling by knowing and sharing valuable client information.
  • Provide timely and objective feedback to teams on task performance.
  • Build industry knowledge through involvement in events, articles and thought leadership.
  • Ensure compliance to policies, standards and procedures.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in humanities or any other related field.
  • Membership of a relevant professional bodies such as CIPD, IHRM.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in human resource consulting.
  • Experience in managing HR engagements, e .g., organization structure review, workload analysis, change management etc.. In East Africa

People & Change – Senior Associate

Position Summary

KPMG People & Change wish to recruit a Senior Associate to assist in analyzing client needs, developing strategies, and delivering HR solutions, ensuring compliance to KPMG policies and professional Standards.

Key roles and responsibilities

The Senior Associate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of a work plan, budget and quality plan to ensure efficiency, high performance and high quality work on engagements.
  • Maintain a progress tracker of engagement milestones, tasks and deliverables.
  • Schedule and conduct engagement (internal and client) kick-off, progress and close out meetings.
  • Keep all engagement stakeholders updated on progress.
  • Ensure financial closure of all engagements.
  • Ensure engagement files are compliant.
  • Lead and participate in the preparation of proposals, bids, quotations, etc. and including pitching for jobs.
  • Manage revenue, maintain a cross-selling value, meet individual revenue targets and ensure proper billing of clients.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in humanities or any other related field.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources is an added advantage.
  • Membership of a relevant professional bodies such as CIPD, IHRM.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in human resource consulting.
