KNEC Issues 5 New Guidelines on KCPE, KCSE 2023 Registration
Registration for the KCSE, KCPE, and qualifying tests for the year 2023 is already underway, and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has just released new guidelines for the process.
The Council issued a statement on Monday, February 13th, requesting that all candidates use the order of their names as shown on their birth certificates.
In addition, students need to enter their accurate gender and birth year before selecting their desired courses.
Finally, if the candidate has any special requirements or disabilities, they must fill out this information depending on their different categories, such as vision, hearing, or physical limitations.
The mandatory registration started on February 1, 2023, and it will continue until March 30, 2023 at the latest.
The Council, however, reaffirmed that no one will be allowed to register for the national exams after the deadline.
KNEC claims that the KCSE Qualifying Test (QT) is a test designed to determine whether or not an applicant is qualified to take the KCSE.
Candidates having a primary certificate other than KCPE or a foreign primary certificate earned in fewer than eight years of primary schooling are eligible to take the exam.
Exam registration takes place through the County Director of Education’s office online.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njeng’ere recently requested that registration forms and supporting paperwork be sent to the Council by school principals on behalf of candidates.
A applicant who is not enrolled will not show up to take an exam, he said.
“Registration of candidates is the first step towards administering an exam. Every centre has two months to make sure that all the candidates are registered,” Njeng’ere stated during the release of the 2022 KCSE results on January 20, 2023.
The Ministry of Education has announced that the KCPE will be administered between November 6 and November 9, 2023, and the KCSE will be taken between November 10 and December 1, 2023.
