Legal Counsel – Corporate BankingÂ
Job Purpose Statement
The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing support to the allocated units for corporate banking business for lending both in country and syndicated cross border lending, securities, contracting, contract projects, litigation, recoveries to corporate restructures.
The allocated corporate banking business units will be selected from the units below:
- Corporate Banking – Offer letters, credit requests and approvals, security perfection and review for Kenya and its regional subsidiaries
- Transactional Banking – Trade services, cash management and custodial business
- Institutional Banking
- Asset Finance (Corporate)
- Global Markets
- Corporate Recoveries and CRAG
Ideal Job Specifications
Academic:
Bachelor’s Degree Law (LLB)
Master of Laws (LLM) (Desired but not necessary)
Professional:
Admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya (minimum 5 – 7 years post admission
A Masters degree in combination with an aggregate of five to seven (7) years of qualifying work experience may be accepted)
Desired work experience:
- A minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience legal department of a busy organization, financial institution or law firm, with sound exposure to:
- Contract and customer documentation drafting
- Development of sound legal advisory and sound general advise
- Credit or lending
- Corporate recoveries
- Perfection of securities

Job Purpose Statement
Reporting to the Senior Manager Communication, the purpose of this role is to enable timely implementation of communication programs both internal and external at NCBA Group, which effectively describe and promote the Group Leadership, Business, Corporate brand and product portfolio. The role will ensure the NCBA Corporate Brand and Products messaging is consistent and engaging. The main duties include enabling preparation of detailed media reports, followthrough on press releases development, reviewing internal communication content which profile NCBA`s company’s brand, products, and services. The ideal candidate will have communication, team work, relationship building, collaboration and organizational skills.
The role is directly accountable to deliver the following:
- Content Development: Follow-through on content for press releases, e-mail communication, weekly marketing activities Bulletin, e-shot communication and related communication materials.
- Project Management: Consolidate and update status on list of internal and external communication projects to be reviewed at Gate Process.
- Routine Management: Manage the public relations agency day to day engagements including detailed media activity analysis.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Facilitate build NCBA internal relationships and identify communication opportunities across departments.
- Adhoc Communication: Manage additional tasks beyond calendar planned communication activities aligned to strategy

- Writing, editing, proof reading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally

Desired Work Experience:
- +4 years’ relevant experience – Communications and PR department of an organization.

Director, Commercial & SME Banking
Job Purpose Statement
This is a newly created Director position reporting tthe Group Director Retail Banking. The position is responsible for executing the Bank’s strategy in Commercial and SME Banking Segments effectively and efficiently, driving performance tmeet targets and grow the business by identify new opportunities, retaining and growing existing business relationships and maintaining profitable relationships with existing customers.
The segments are defined as follows;
- Commercial Clients are large businesses with turnovers above Kes. 500M p.a. and above; that dnot fall within the target market or definition for Corporate Banking
- SME Banking segment comprises business clients with turnovers above Kes. 36M – Kes. 500M p.a. or any client below Kes. 36M with a working capital facility with NCBA
- GBusiness segment are all other business clients with turnover below Kes. 36M p.a. or without a working capital borrowing relationship with NCBA
- A key medium-term strategic outcome for this role is the achievement of recognised leadership by the NCBA Group in the Commercial and SME clients’ space.

Ideal Job Specifications
Academic:
- Bachelor’s degree– Upper second or GPA 3.0.
- Master’s Degree in a business related field will be an added advantage.
Professional (preferred, not mandatory)
- CIM, AKIB
- Membership or participation in industry forums such as IOD, KAM etc.
Desired work experience:Â
- 15 + years of work experience in business development roles, with 5 + years leading commercial/ Business banking teams within the Banking Industry.
- In-depth knowledge of banking and business operations
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management, customers, vendors, partners, sales, and operations teams.
