One Acre Fund is a non-profit organization that supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms more productive.

We are looking for an Avocado Processing Supervisor to join our Market Access team and help us start up agribusinesses that work for smallholder farmers, focusing on high-value crops such as avocados.

As an Avocado Processing Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the daily operations of the avocado processing facility, including overseeing production, quality control, and maintenance.
  • Supervising a team of processing technicians and ensuring that they follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Keeping accurate records of production, inventory, and quality control, and reporting any issues to management.
  • Ensuring that all equipment is maintained and serviced to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborating with other departments to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Developing and implementing new processes to improve quality, productivity and safety.
  • Managing and motivating the team, setting performance targets, and ensuring that they are aware of our goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations related to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of a diploma or a degree from a recognized university preferably in an agricultural-related discipline.
  • 2 (two) years experience managing avocado or perishable pack houses.
  • Knowledge of fresh produce industry industrial relations.
  • Experience in factory and labour administration.
  • Supervisory skills
