Short-Term Consultancy to Conduct a Five Day(5) Mediation Training at IDLO – International Development Law Organization
The Assignment
- To ensure the successful uptake of mediation as a key form of ADR in Marsabit County, IDLO in collaboration with MAC is seeking to engage a qualified consultant to conduct a 5-day comprehensive mediation training program from 13 November – 18 November 2023 in Marsabit. The aim of this training is to build a skilled and dedicated community of mediators within the county to effectively enhance the uptake of mediation.
The consultants’ responsibilities will include: –
- Deliver training sessions on mediation principles, processes and procedures a 5-day period/ 40 hours
- Assessment and evaluation of participants on their understanding of mediation principles, processes, and procedures.
- Develop pre and post-training support and materials and provide them to participants as needed.
- Collaborate with IDLO and MAC to ensure alignment of the training with the objectives of CAM.
- Issue certificates for all participants.
Deliverables
The Consultant will deliver the following:
- An inception report detailing the understanding of the assignment, methodology, timelines, and work plan.
- A comprehensive mediation training program and concept note.
- Pre- and post-training reference materials for participants to promote effective learning and skill application in mediation.
- Facilitate the training sessions over the 5-day period/40-hour training.
- Issue certificates for all participants.
- A completion report of the training conducted, participant progress and evaluations, and any recommendations for further improvement or follow-up actions.
Job Requirements
Education
- An advanced university degree (masters or equivalent) with qualifications in sociology, law, political science, peace studies, or other related field with proven work in the field of mediation.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in facilitating training in the field of mediation or other ADR mechanisms.
- Prior experience delivering on similar assignments, including the development of training curricula.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills with the capacity to process qualitative and quantitative information and produce precise reports.
- Ability to present complex issues in a simple and clear manner.
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Fluency in English is required.
