Head of ESG

Key Requirements:

  • Develop, execute and manage the overall company’s ESG strategy, including setting goals and measuring progress to ensure that it is directly tied to the business strategies and goals
  • Develop annual and long-term OESG objectives
  • Prepare annual ESG progress against set objectives and goals
  • Develop policies, guidelines related to sustainability affecting the environment
  • Play a key role as a sustainability thought leader and in representing the company at the global, Africa and country levels
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders and presenting regular sustainability reports and conduct sustainability assessments
  • Define the parameters to enable net zero strategy goal setting
  • Develop and maintain the Environmental Sustainability Management System (ESMS) and risk management framework for the company and drive the leadership in the industry in Africa
  • Monitor industry trends related to ESG to identify future opportunities for growth or risk areas that may require mitigation efforts
  • Coordinating with external stakeholders such as suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure that they are aligned with the company’s ESG goals
  • Develop the appropriate strategies to address the ESG risks and their potential impacts


  • Bachelor’s and preferably Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional qualifications in ESG, or related International Standards
  • Career track record in ESG
  • Minimum of 15 years of post-graduate experience in engineering or related technology industries and minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in ESG
  • Practical knowledge in carbon footprint reduction principles and techniques
  • Knowledge and experience in global ESMS environmental standards and frameworks
  • Experience of shaping, setting, and executing credible ESG strategies and programs
  • Knowledge of data analysis and report writing Innovation in engineering and technology to shape sustainability solutions
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines
  • Independent, reliable, and flexible
