Qualifications & Skills required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications Option) or related field from a recognized institution
- Registered Engineer with EBK as a graduate member
- Registered Engineer with IEK as a graduate member
- Certificate of training in Power System Telecommunications
- Must have minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervises Graduate Engineers and Technicians in section during operation and maintenance activities of Telecommunication systems.
- Participates in review of substation Telecommunication, CCTV and Access control System project designs.
- Performs testing and commissioning of new Telecommunication Systems equipment.
- Participates in preparation of specifications for Telecommunication equipment and systems as per the approved policies and procedures.
- Participates in Commissioning as well as Operation and Maintenance activities of CCTV, Access Control and Wide Area Network systems across all KETRACO substations and repeater stations
- Supervises substation Telecommunication, CCTV and Access control System project works as well as Testing and Commissioning activities
- Engages in operation and maintenance activities of the Power Systems Telecommunication Networks and Multiplexer Systems for all KETRACO Substations and Repeater Stations to enable and support Monitoring and Control of the substations and repeater stations both from the Central SCADA systems at the Regional and National Control Centres as well as all Backup Control Centres and to provide 99.99% system availability
- Issues and Receives Safety Electrical Permits to work and Limitation of Access.
- Prepares Telecommunication works reports.
