The position

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2012 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili and Nyamira. The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates to fill the following locum positions within the Nursing Department:

Ward Clerks -(Locum) – Kisumu
Reporting to the respective Head Nurse, the Ward Clerk will be responsible for maintaining and controlling of unit stock to enhance efficiency in the care given as well as performing general messengerial duties for smooth running of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ordering of stocks in the assigned unit.
  • Receive, issue and control usage of stock items.
  • Keep records of daily patient data and prepare related monthly reports.
  • Ensure safe custody of patient documents / patient files.
  • Maintain high standards of Infection Control Practices as per policies.
  • General Ward operations.

The requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer service skills.
