The position
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2012 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili and Nyamira.
The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates to fill the following locum positions within the Nursing Department:
Porters – (Locum) – Kisumu
Reporting to respective Head Nurse, the successful candidate will responsible for assisting Nursing Officers with non-skilled tasks, pottering of patients, files and keeping patient environment safe for quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the transfer of patients to and from their vehicles, beds, chairs, wheelchairs, stretchers ensuring safety measures are adhered to.
- Assist in wheeling and/transporting of patient to the wards, x-rays, ECG, physiotherapy, laboratory ,etc in the company of the Nursing Officers.
- Maintain high standards of Infection Control Practices as per policies.
- Ensure the environment is clean
- Carry out messengerial duties as delegated from time to time.
The requirements
- Minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
- Certificate in Nursing Aid or equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
- At least one (1) year of experience in an acute care setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer services skills.
