Diplomatic ties between Japan and Kenya started in 1964. Since then, relations between our two countries have always been friendly and cooperation has flourished in many areas. I will do my utmost to further strengthen our relationship, making full use of my experience and expertise.

  • Requirements:
  • A mean grade of C+ and above in KCSE
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in high-end hotel, restaurants or diplomatic residence is required
  • Hold a diploma(s) in hospitality management
  • Should speak fluent English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Japanese language will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in computer usage especially Word and Excel is desirable
  • Should have no criminal record and is required to submit a certificate of good conduct

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the Ambassador’s Residence
  • Preparation of fine dining, food and beverage service and support to the kitchen staff
  • Cleaning and maintenance of common areas and guest rooms

Method of Application

Candidates who meet the above criteria should submit a copy of National ID, hard copies of their CVs with a passport size photograph, a copy of diploma(s), reference letter(s) from previous employer(s), a valid certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations directly at the main security desk inside the Embassy premises, to reach the Embassy on or before Monday 24th April 2023.

Working Conditions, etc:

  • Work 45 hours per week, Monday-Saturday (half day on Saturday).
  • Remuneration and benefits will be discussed with the candidate upon selection
  • The selected candidate will be subject to a three-months probation period followed by a fixed term contract which will be subject to renewal

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Embassy for a further selection process. Candidates who will be considered will go through a practical test, a writing test and an oral interview. The successful candidate from this process will be required to begin work at the Embassy of Japan Ambassador’s Residence in August 2023. Kindly note that no telephone enquiries will be accepted.
